Happy B-day Barb!

I just got back from Barbie’s 50th birthday party at my favourite Sephora store (Square One -it’s the smallest, but the cutest). Although they were only expecting 30 people at the event, 250 woke up bright and early today to join the party (or just to pick up the gift bag and dip).

The party was to celebrate the launch of the limited-edition Barbie-themed collection by Cake. The indulgent collection ranges from the “starlit” candle to the “solid scentsability” lip butter (in a durable metallic tin). I have to admit to a tad bit of nostalgia, but the “Smooth Body, Clean Reputation” is definitely not a Mr. Bubbles’ Barbie bubble bath. The set (shower froth and body mouse) is a delicious combination of coco and mango butter, but the “Sugar Coated” body scrub that I got in the mail the other day boasts ingredients like brown sugar, olive oil (vitamin E), and sunflower oil (Omega-6). I still have to actually use it, but it smells so0o good. I’ll tell you more in the back-to-class issue of Luminosus (don’t forget to read our “green” L&L feature. All of Cake’s products are paraben-free and contain natural ingredients so it will definitely be in there).

Another highlight of this collection is the “first class jet-setter” set. The set includes flight-friendly sizes of the lip butter, hand crème, body mist, body mouse and shower froth. Slip the set into your carry-on and don't worry about it getting confiscated at Pearson. Melanie tells me the best-seller thus far is the “Gotta Hand it to Her” hand crème (similar to Cake’s “Milk Made,” but it’s a different scent). Other notables, Michelle’s favourite, Cake’s “Milk Made” cuticle buffer-“It makes your hands so soft.” And another bonus, this line is only available in Canada.

Special thanks to Melanie, Michelle and Mr. “not-a-bouncer” :)…and Lindsey for the body sugar!
